I’m Chris Cavallo, the voice and vision behind Salt AND Light Photography.
(Be sure to ask me why I chose this name—it’s one of my favorite stories to share.)

I’m a wife, a mom, and someone who loves being deeply involved in my church and community. My husband and I have been married for 13 years, and together we have a handsome twelve-year-old son. Being a wife and mother has shown me just how quickly time moves. It’s the one thing we can never get back—except through photographs. That belief is at the heart of everything I do.

My journey into photography happened by complete serendipity. While running a small gourmet food business, I borrowed a digital camera and instantly became a shutterbug. Creativity surged to the surface. I bought a point-and-shoot, then quickly upgraded to an SLR. That was 19 years ago! I photographed everything I could—landscapes, rusty cars, abandoned buildings—and became obsessed with HDR and the magic of light, detail, and color.

My husband deserves the credit for nudging me toward turning this passion into a full-time career. He believed I was ready long before I did, and I’m so grateful he helped me take that leap. Today, photography is not just my job—it’s my calling. I continue to push myself in every genre I explore, because learning, growing, and creating for my clients will always be my driving force.

Chris Cavallo is one of the Mount Washington Valley area’s top portrait photographers. Chris has won multiple ribbons at the Fryeburg Fair, including three Judges’ Awards, and has received over 1,000 peer awards.
